My Private Transfers- Cleaning and Operational Procedure and Safety Precautions for the Safety of the Drivers during Coronavirus ( COVID 19) Pandemic

Coronavirus brings lot of challenges for the travel industry. As a driver, you need to take the following precautions during this time for your safety and the safety of the passengers.

Check your health conditions and that of your close contacts. Also ask the following questions to the passengers when you meet them. (These questions and follow up actions are applicable for both Driver and Passenger)

A. Have you been in close contact with a person who has a confirmed case of COVID-19? If so, you need to stay in self isolation.
B. Do you have any symptoms of COVID-19 that are similar to the flu or a cold? They may include:

  • Fever
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose
  • Headache
  • Cough
  • A general feeling of being unwell.

If you have any of these symptoms, please take medical advice before starting travel with Private Transfer services. The National Coronavirus Health Information hotline 1800 020 080 is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Queensland National Coronavirus Health Information hotline is QLD 13 43 25 84. It is also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If drivers develop any of these symptoms, please inform the line manager ASAP using +61420903617, and also the Queensland State Health authorities. Follow the instructions from the health authorities.

It generally advised to remain in isolation at home for 7 days OR until 72 hours after your fever has resolved and your symptoms have gone away, whichever is longer. If you have travelled internationally in the last 14 days or have been in touch with any one affected with COVID-19, please consult a doctor consider contacting over phone first and get clearance before starting your work/ journey with our service.

As a driver always ensure the passengers wash their hands or apply hand sanitisers before they enter the vehicle. Avoid touching your face without washing your hands for 30 seconds with soap and water.

Before starting each trip, ensure the car is cleaned well, wipe it down and spray disinfectants. For stocking up on disinfectants or wipes, please call your line manager and they will provide a supply.

As a driver, you are also allowed to buy needed cleaning materials including wipes, disinfectant sprays, hand sanitisers and tissues from a respected shop and it will be reimbursed by the company.

If you believe that the passenger has not taken hygienic precautions and as a driver you cannot provide a safe transfer service, then you may choose to refuse or terminate the trip.

Group transfers with at risk people, including older people should be avoided

Regarding Air conditioners- Drivers should set the air-conditioning to external airflow instead of recirculation through air conditioning or keep the windows open.

Check if the passengers travel originated from outside Australia. If so, passengers have to be quarantined for 14 days. In such cases no stops in between (eg. shops or chemist) are allowed.

You are encouraged to wear a surgical mask if available.

If you cough or sneeze, please use tissues, elbow or upper arm. Dispose of the tissues safely and clean your hands afterwards using a sanitiser or soap and water.

Never refuse a trip based on Nationality, disability or cultural background. That is discrimination.

Avoid taking cash and any physical touching, including handshakes.

Remove all newspapers, magazines and plastic water bottles from the car to reduce the likelihood of the virus spreading.

Discourage passengers from eating and drinking in the car.

When touching a trolley or any luggage, use gloves, wet wipes or disinfectants.

Special Note:

If an event occurred where a passenger or driver was spreading droplets (eg. sneezing, coughing or vomiting), chauffeurs should safely clean accessible surfaces with appropriate disinfectants so that the potential spread of infection can be minimised. If body fluid spills are large, like someone vomiting, take your car immediately to the nearest available professional car cleaning business.

If this is not available or open the driver should take all the needed precautions and clean as quickly as possible.
